EN60754-2 Determination of degree of acidity of gases / cables by measuring PH and conductivity

EN 60754-2:1991 Test on gases evolves during combustion of electric cables-Part 2: Determination of degree of acidity of gases evolved during the combustion of materials taken from electric cables by measuring PH and conductivity.

Test method for gas acidity of EN60754-2 cable after combustion
EN60754-2 test for the combustion of a pre - weight test material in a tubular furnace. The released gas is bubbled through a bottle containing distilled water or softened water. The acidity was measured by the pH value and the conductivity of the solution was measured.

The EN60754-2 standard is to test the acidity of the halogen gas produced after the combustion of the cable. It is determined by the pH value and conductivity of the aqueous solution. The provisions of the combustion furnace preheated to 800 DEG C, a built-in sample quartz tube into the furnace, and start timing. In the first 5 minutes of combustion, the pH value and electrical conductivity were measured every 1 minutes, every 5 minutes for the next 25 minutes. The general halogen free cable material pH value will be greater than 4.3, the conductivity is less than 10 s; the lower the pH value, that is, the higher the acidity of halogen acid gas. It is worth noting that, when the HCI content is greater than 2mg/g and less than 5mg/g (that is, in line with the requirements of IEC60754-1), the pH of the aqueous solution is also less than 4.3.
EN50575/EN13501-6 standard according to the cable heat release amount, the length of the destruction of fire and so on the flame of the cable is divided into seven levels: EN13501-6 Aca, B1ca, B2ca, Cca, Dca, Eca, Fca these seven levels.
